about

Biliana and Marina are international filmmakers and sister co-directors based in New York. In 2012 they co-founded their production company El Jinete Films. They premiered their debut feature documentary “The Last Kamikazis of Heavy Metal” at the 2014 New Orleans Film Festival. “Eastern Western” is the Grozdanova Sisters' first narrative feature, awarded the Big Sky Sky Film Grant in 2024. It premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival in 2024 and screened at over a dozen festivals nationally and internationally. The film has won Best Cinematography, Best Feature, and the sisters were awarded the Carlo Simi Award for Technical-Artistic Contribution to the western genre at the Almería Western Film Festival. Distributed by Purdie Films, the film is set for a theatrical release in December 2025 and streaming in 2026. EL Jinete Films is current in production of their next film “New Dawn Rising.”

Biliana has worked on Venice and Cannes-premiering films, most notably Roberto Minervini’s 2025 “The Damned,” and has collaborated on projects with the United Nations, Kartemquin Films, Wavelength Productions and the Tribeca Film Institute. Marina has worked on projects in the US, Europe and Japan, including for National Geographic and Left/Right TV on non-fiction programming that is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
